Why August Is the Real Start of Holiday Marketing for Law Firms
We know, it feels early. It’s August. You’re still settling into the back-to-school routine and trying to squeeze in the last few summer Fridays. But if you want to make your clients feel genuinely appreciated by the end of the year—and stay visible in a way that actually matters—now’s the time to start planning.
Client appreciation events don’t have to be over-the-top to be effective. In fact, the most memorable ones we’ve seen are often the simplest.
Take Pie Day, for example. One firm we worked with hands out Thanksgiving pies every year. Clients stop by, grab a pie, say a quick hello, and leave with a warm impression. That’s it. No speeches. No sales pitch. And clients talk about it for months.
Another client hosted a remembrance ornament evening—just a quiet gathering where people could create something in memory of a loved one they’d lost that year. No surprise, it filled up quickly. These kinds of moments matter more than slick marketing.
Other ideas? Rent out a movie theater and invite clients and their families. Host a holiday photo day with a professional photographer. Plan a casual night at a ball game. These events aren’t about pushing your services—they’re about showing up as a real, human part of your clients’ lives.
Want to take it a step further? Combine your appreciation event with a small community service project. We’ve seen firms collect pajamas for foster kids, run food drives, gather backpacks for students, and even do “Wills for Vets” days. Clients love being part of something bigger, especially when it’s easy to participate.
All of these ideas take time to organize—but they don’t have to take your time. With the right team and systems, you can show up meaningfully without adding more to your already-full plate.
If you need help sorting out what kind of event makes sense for your firm, we’re here to help. From concept to content to promotion, we make it easy to do something thoughtful—and actually pull it off.
Let’s make this year feel more connected and less chaotic.
